I have been getting a lot of requests asking if I will make a visit to your school, organization, or conference. While I work in a school district conducting professional development for technology integration, transformation, one to one, and PBL , I also have limited time to work with other districts and present at conferences. I feel my role as a current practitioner with 35 years of educational experience along with recent advanced degree work at Johns Hopkins University has been valuable to those I work with. I have also consulted for Discovery Education, Buck Institute, ISTE, Alan November Learning, PBS, and am a tech adviser for Tech and Learning Magazine.
I am excited about any way I can assist you in providing professional development and presentations. I have had the opportunity to network and train thousands of educators across the country on topics that include PBL, 21st Century Learning, STEM, Digital Curriculum, One to One, and Educational Transformation. You can see past topic below along with over 225 appearances, presentations, and workshops I have been involved with across the country. Please note that it is helpful to plan in advance to guarantee needed dates. I invite your inquiry at: mjgormans@gmail.com.

Smart kits east Africa ,is a Kenyan registered entity , whose goal is
to research, develop, acquire and provide practical ,creative products
via a curriculum that encapsulate S.T.E.M education in East Africa ;
preparing our children to be sufficiently adept and effective citizens
,able to function and contribute to an increasingly technology driven
world .
Our schools and the different curriculum are still stuck in the
archetypal approach where we “teach about science”, rather than to
“learn to be scientist “. Hence, science is arduous and excruciating.
Science and math are presented as collection of fusty facts, formulae,
or principles; things students must remember faithfully and
regurgitate mindlessly to pass examinations.
As Smart Kits (ea.) Science is a way of thinking, understanding and
representing our world, and the earlier we start inculcating this
culture the better we prepare our children for the future.
STEM isn’t just for tomorrow’s scientist and engineers .Innovation
and technology has led to demand for STEM competencies beyond
traditional STEM occupations. The creativity, practical and critical
thinking skills that come with a foundation in Stem are in high demand
for many jobs across our nation, but as a 300 million + economy we are
still lagging behind in developing man power in this areas
We are seeking partnership with your organization that will enable us
to correct this situation in the following ways.
1. We are looking to develop a S.T.E.M curriculum that will be infused
with the existing 8 – 4 -4 system that will target 8-17 yr olds that’s
primary (elementary) and High school.
2. Have some of your leading minds in STEM curriculum flying over to
train teachers.
3. Guide in acquiring products or support materials that would
accelerate learning in schools and at home for kids.
Africa is the future and this is evident with the number of
multinationals setting up in Kenya, I believe a partnership between

Hi Mike
Your blog should be mandatory reading for any educator hoping to wield digital technology in his or her classroom. I’ve been a fan of it for a while.
I – well, the university I’m working for – have put together an inquiry-based learning platform for iPad. We’re really interested in getting it out there. Would you mind letting me know if you’d be up for taking a look at it? We’re up for the most brutally honest reviews anyone can throw at us!
Besides the website, we have an expository video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anam2xNNxKc, which is part of our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/channel/UCgq6jILJjZ8cfLLhs4V3s9g).
Thanks. Really looking forward to hearing what you have to say!
Regards
Chris
