Since 1991, ISTE’s Online Learning Special Interest Group for Online Learning (SIGOL) has recognized creative teachers for their pioneering use of telecommunication networks to provide innovative learning opportunities for K–16 students. SIGOL is looking for an individual or group that has successfully planned, implemented and evaluated an online learning activity to enhance and/or improve student learning in their classroom whether it be brick and mortar, online, or a combination of both. Perhaps it is a professional development activity you have created, a special website, a global connection, or a wonderful example of kids collaborating with kids online. the possibilities are endless. Award winners will receive:
- Recognition at the ISTE Conference and Expo
- Complimentary registrations to the ISTE Conference and Expo (up to two)
- Up to $1,000 for travel expenses to attend the ISTE Conference and Expo (up to two)
- An invitation to present a poster session at the ISTE Conference and Expo
- One-year ISTE membership (up to two)
- An engraved plaque recognizing the recipient’s outstanding achievement (up to two)
- Recognition in ISTE publications, in press releases provided to local media and on iste.org
There will be a special free webinar on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 4 PM to highlight the competition. It will also include a special guest appearance from last year’s winners. Learn about their project and get some great tips involving online collaboration for your students. This webinar will also be archived and available on the ISTE SIGOL Site. Consider attending and learning how you can be part of a great program and also be a part of SIGOL at ISTE!
